web_data/description Apple's OS X Lion (v10.7) security services are now built on a newer 'Next Generation Cryptography' platform and does not use the CDSA/CSP module previously validated. Apple is re-validating the same CDSA/CSP module under OS X Lion to provide validation solely for third-party applications. Mac OS X's security services are built using the open source Common Data Security Architecture. CDSA is a set of layered security services in which the AppleCSP provides the cryptography for services such as FileVault, Encrypted Disk Images, Keychains, Safari, Mail, etc.
